Using parasites as biological tag for Hilsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha) migration in Bangladesh waters

چکیده

The study was aimed at following the movement of adolescent Tenualosa ilisha from nursery grounds to feeding and spawning or other type movements in Bangladesh waters. To accomplish this, data on metazoan endoparasites were used as biological tags for detection migratory route. A total 2667 host fishes collected eleven sites covering three different ecological habitats Bangladesh. Initial selection parasites executed by using established criteria, primarily basis level infection habitats. role incidental is also discussed. Overall fourteen species under genus endohelminths identified alimentary canal associated organs host, only them had satisfied criteria being tag. These are cestode parasite Ilisha parthenogenetica acanthocephalan Acanthosentis indica hilsai. Higher prevalence these respective trend size class fish demonstrated host‟s anadromous nature reinforced belief that T. a whole, migrates sea rivers via estuaries vice versa.

Use of RAPD fingerprinting for delineating populations of hilsa shad Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton, 1822).

RAPD was used to delineate the hilsa populations sampled from the Ganga, Yamuna, Hooghly, and Narmada Rivers at six different locations. Six degenerate primers were used to generate the fragment patterns from the samples collected. All primers were highly polymorphic and generated high numbers of amplification products. Nei's genetic distances were calculated between locations. The overall aver...

Reproductive biology of Hilsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha) in coastal Waters of the Northwest of Persian Gulf

Some aspects of the reproductive biology of Hilsa Shad, Tenualosa ilisha from the Persian Gulf and rivers of Khouzestan Province of Iran were analyzed. A total of 485 fish were sampled by gillnet from landing center of Arvand (AR) and Bahmanshir (BR) rivers during period of April 2010 to September 2010. Reproductive characteristic of T.ilisha showed that sex ratio is M: F=1:2, in PG, AR and BR....

Investigation of Stock Status of Hilsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha Hamilton, 1822) in the Southern Waters of Iran

Hilsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha Hamilton, 1822) is a migratory fish and as one of the most important species in the southern parts of Iran, so that during the last decade, the amount of its catch has fluctuated a lot. Due to the limited data available on the stock of this species in southern waters, it is not possible to use models based on complementary data to assess its stock. In the present st...
